A Family Business Since 1948!

In the Beginning
Lackey Decorating is a family owned business that was started in Orangeville in 1948. At that time my grandfather, Samuel Lackey, ran a very successful crew always putting quality and trust first.
A Family Business
In 1982, my father, Tom Lackey, started Lackey Decorating in Barrie. He believed in always providing a high quality service at a reasonable rate. He loved the challenges and experienced a great deal of success in an industry that he truly enjoyed. His clients all trusted his down-to-earth, jolly outlook and most of them became friends, not just clients.

My Apprenticeship
I had been raised in a home that always had some new colour in a bedroom and some wallpaper waiting to be hung. Guess who would always be there wanting to help! I have always had a creative side and a keen eye for colour and undertones. In 2000, I decided to join the crew and spent the early years doing all the typical grunt work. I really did start at the bottom and by 2005 I had earned my position as part owner. Then, tragedy struck our family and my father passed away in 2006. I stepped into the sole proprietor role. My father always trusted in this business because he was driven to provide a quality job and I take the responsibility to maintain his high standards very seriously.
Beyond a Brush and a Ladder
In 2008, I started another chapter by working part time in a very busy Benjamin Moore store in Barrie and later, one in Alliston. I was fortunate to be able to work alongside some great colour experts and connect with many other paint contractors. My time spent there expanded my knowledge about paint products and colour. I continue to have a strong bond to the Benjamin Moore brand and my other fellow paint contractors.
